Allton Starts Web Design Firm in Lake Saint Louis, MO
Michael Allton can still remember his first website. "It was 1997, and my mother had just formed a new non-profit organization in Norwalk, Ohio called Project Leadership. It was designed to promote leadership and community values and she wanted a website to help recruit members. I used FrontPage 97 and it was very basic, but it sparked my love for website design." Since then, Michael has come a long way. For several years, he designed websites for businesses and organizations in Ohio while with an IT Firm. Then, last year, after moving to Lake Saint Louis, he started his own design firm, Stadia Studio. "I wanted very much to get back into designing websites for small businesses," said Michael. "I've always enjoyed helping businesses grow, and having a great website is an integral part of that." Stadia Studio specializes in providing small businesses with complete web services including website design, hosting, search engine optimization and consulting.

The Oscars aren't so different from baseball awards
Juno." Perhaps my favorite movie of the year, "Juno" cost $2.5 million to make yet has already taken in $125 million and received four Academy Award nominations (best picture, best actress, best original screenplay and best directing). That's the equivalent of David Wright hitting .311 with 26 home runs and 116 RBIs while earning $374,000 in 2006. Compare "Juno" to "The Golden Compass," which cost an estimated $200 million to $250 million and has taken in about $60 million domestically (it's produced big box office numbers overseas, however). That's the equivalent of Richie Sexson making $15.5 million last year to hit .205 and drive in 63 runs. Also, Oscar-nominated director Jason Reitman is the son of director Ivan Reitman ("Ghostbusters" and "Stripes"). Do we have the directing equivalent of the Fielders? "Atonement." Some critics found it a little too precious, but I was enthralled by director Joe Wright's spectacular 5 ½-minute tracking shot of the Battle of Dunkirk.
Sun turns to Neil Diamond for Amazon utility 'killer'
Here's Sun Microsystems. Ahead of the curve with utility computing? Check. Interested in gaining the business of today's internet companies? Big check. Full of server-side software skills? Check. Behind Amazon.com of all companies in actually putting these things together as a product or service companies can buy? Yep. Sun's mysterious failure to address the potentially meaty market for renting a web infrastructure to fledgling businesses appears on course for a correction. The company plans to unveil a project code-named Caroline in the next couple of months, offering a "hosting platform for development and delivery of dynamically scalable Internet-based services". .
