IIS 6.0 Mature at Last

WHEN I FIRST TAUGHT Windows NT 4.0 courses, Internet Information Server (IIS) 2.0 was included in the base operating system. It was a big improvement over IIS 1.0, and I still remember the fun I had showing students how easy it was to set up a Web server. That was about six years ago, when Web servers running on NT were an exception. Since then, things have changed considerably. IIS has improved in performance, increased in functionality and grown in the number of deployments because of the changes. Netcraft reports that IIS has between 24 percent and 35 percent of the market, depending on how its measured. I expect the increased security and performance of IIS 6.0 to bump up those numbers a great deal. So lets look at IIS 6.0 and what it brings to the table.

In putting together this article, I sat down with several of my former IIS students over lunch and showed them the new Process Model for IIS 6.0.

Norris survivor suggests classes

Further, in case you missed it all over the news, mental health bills are flying through our legislation and are supported by both sides. But beyond that, you're calling for more restrictions on responsible people. Permit holders are almost 6 times less likely to commit violent crime than those without, and firearms are used 2-3 times more often for self-defense than for crime. I'm so sick of people saying a gun is too easy to get. If you've ever bought a gun, you would know that you can't even get the background check in 45 minutes, so add in shopping time, checkout, picking out holsters, ammunition, etc etc etc and we're talking hours if not days/weeks/months. Laws of Life Essays Part 2

To me, that's a hero. You're my hero. Grandpa, you were a fighter. I want to thank you for fighting for our country, in the Korean War. You were injured, and received a “Purple Heart". You battled from war to cancer. I don't know how you fought for so long. Everyone hated to see you suffer the way you did. But you held on. You were suffering and we were all suffering with you. I only had one Grandpa my whole life, I never got to meet my other one. I heard he fought with the same exact thing as you did. I bet you're talking to him right now. I never did want to lose you, but I'm so happy you are in such a better place then all of us. You were one man who was truly happy to be alive, and to live life. You lived life to the fullest. And you taught each one of us exactly how to do that. You were a believer, Grandpa.

It took only about 10 minutes for Gov. Blagojevich's name to surface in the corruption trial of Tony Rezko.

Cities, states get 'A' for preparation

In the first report of its kind, U.S. health officials said the nation's states and cities made a strong effort to prepare for a flu pandemic, bioterrorism or other emergency health crisis, but big challenges remain. "I think in terms of effort and progress, an 'A,'" said Dr. Richard Besser of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, when asked to assign a letter grade.

"In terms of amount of work to be done, I would say that's absolutely enormous."

It was the government's first assessment of the payoff from its investment of more than $5 billion since the terrorist attacks of 2001 to make the country better prepared for a variety of public health emergencies.

The report looked at the staffing, laboratory capability and other resources of state, local and territorial health departments for handling bioterrorism or other disasters.

Snug with grand views

Seven months after Bob Caldwell became a widower, the next chapter in his life unfolded quickly. He placed his home and two acres of land in Bowie on the market, setting in motion a major change in lifestyle.

"I took a contract on the Bowie house Sept. 15, began house hunting in Baltimore on Sept. 18, bought this house the next day and settled on Oct. 1," said Caldwell, 56, a warehouse supervisor for Giant Food in Jessup.

That two-week whirlwind brought Caldwell a two-story, brick rowhouse on Fort Avenue in South Baltimore's Locust Point, landing him back in the city where he grew up and visited regularly to see friends and attend Ravens games.
