Britney Spears
My sources, possibly imaginary, tell me that Britney's new lawyer refused to budge on having her client wear underwear around the children. Kevin's lawyers were specific with their demands that "the boys not return home looking like goddamn Two-Face from Batman." Britney's lawyer conceded that acid vadge is a concern, but could not promise the wearing of undergarments. The two sides will convene later today and hopefully reach an agreement that effectively protects the children and, also, Britney's right to damage their vision. .
Sources: Dallas Cowboys consider Pacman Jones
On Thursday, Jones again said he wants to play for the Cowboys, on an Atlanta radio station. "I just have to do what I have to do to get back on the field," he said. "Hopefully it won't be long, and hopefully it will be a couple of more months. I would love to play for the Cowboys, America's Team." If the Cowboys acquire Jones, he would join Pro Bowl cornerback Terence Newman and Anthony Henry, who led the team with six interceptions in 2007. Jones would also be a leading candidate to return punts. In 2006, he averaged 12.9 yards per return with three touchdowns. The Cowboys have signed players with troubled pasts before. The team signed nose tackle Tank Johnson last season after he served a suspension for violations of the NFL conduct policy.
Kickels, Oster win sectional title matches
Kickels took a 1-0 lead over Gonzalez with a second-period escape. That lead held up until the third quarter when Gonzalez tied it with a reverse. The match remained knotted in the overtime before both wrestlers were awarded points because of unsportsmanlike conduct during the first 30-second tiebreaker. With Gonzalez (21-2) on top to begin the second 30-second tiebreaker, Kickels produced a reverse at the 21-second mark and made it stand up. It was on to the state for Kickels, who was the Indians' middle linebacker. "What a feeling this is," said Kickels, who finished fourth in the state last year. "It's awesome. That's the only way I can describe it. "Gonzalez is a tremendous wrestler. I knew this match was going to be among the toughest I've had all season. "This was a match you had to be ready to go from the very start.
Credit crunch catches up with Goldman
The average estimate for 2008 earnings, down modestly during the second half last year, plunged 13 percent since February 1 as analysts focused on Goldman's exposure to hard-hit markets. Goldman is expected to report first-quarter earnings of $3.24 a share on March 18, according to Reuters Estimates. That's about half what it earned last year, buoyed by an LBO boom, frothy financial markets and investment gains. Forecasts have come down sharply for all the big banks, as the credit crunch spreads across almost every market -- the contagion effect that Wall Street executives last year assured analysts was not happening. The most important yardstick, though, is the stock market. Goldman, for years a leader among financial stocks, is down more than 26 percent this year.
Julie Bishop says attacks on Brendan Nelson 'unfair'
ATTACKS on Opposition Leader Brendan Nelson are "unfair and unnecessary" and he should be given a fair go, his deputy leader says. In a further blow to Dr Nelson, the latest Galaxy Poll published today by News Ltd gives him only nine per cent support as preferred Liberal leader. Opposition treasury spokesman Malcolm Turnbull, former treasurer Peter Costello and Deputy Liberal Leader Julie Bishop are all preferred over Dr Nelson. Ms Bishop today thanked the people who voted for her in the poll but said she was focused on the deputy leadership. She conceded the coalition was going through "difficult times". "But Brendan is a decent, caring, competent politician, and I think he should be given a go," Ms Bishop told ABC television. "I think people should get off his back and let him get on with the job that he has been elected to do, and that's leader of the opposition, holding the government to account.
Delbarton edges MoBeard in thriller
In a goaltending duel worthy of Martin Brodeur, Delbarton's top-ranked hockey team defeated No. 13 Morristown Beard 2-0 on Friday night to advance to the state semifinals. The Green Wave will face No. 5 Bishop Eustace on March 15 at 2 p.m. at Mennen Arena in Morris Township. From The Star-Ledger: Delbarton's prolific offense was held scoreless through two periods while firing 24 shots at Morristown-Beard goaltender Doug Taylor, who played a spectacular 45 minutes. Morristown-Beard (20-6-1) employed a 1-2-2 passive forecheck for most of the first two periods and kept Delbarton's forwards away from rebounds with sound coverage in its own end. But Bell, a senior forward, finally solved the puzzle 1:56 into the third when he took a pass from linemate Mike Smigelski, curled in the left circle and snapped a high shot that Taylor was unable to stop to give Delbarton (25-1-1) a 1-0 lead.
Mansion 'mistake' piles the pressure on Barack Obama
He and his mother recieved death threats because Tavis Smiley criticized Obama for not coming to the event (unlike Sen. Clinton who was also invited). Death threats for an opinion !! It is a very frightening time in America and reminds me of the dangerous past leaders who whipped up hysterical masses and created chaos. .
Pact with ICE allows U.S. phone firm to skin callers
When a tourist uses a credit card to make an international call at one of those funny looking telephones at about 400 hotels here, everybody wins. Except the tourist. The hotel gets $7. The Costa Rican phone company gets paid, too. And the owner of the phone, BBG Communications of San Diego, California, gets a payday that may run into the hundreds of dollars. Another big winner is the Galicot family, said to be one of the richest in Tijuana, México. Family members appear to own and manage the company as well as a more conventional phone service in México, G-Tel. Most company officials would not respond to questions. BBG Communications has managed to accrue at least 800 complaints since 1996 at the San Diego Better Business Bureau.
