Winter generally puts a damper on the running calendar, but the 2008 Xtreme Running Film Series got started on a snowy evening in February with Dancing the Bear, a film about two women at the Bear 100 Mile Endurance Run. "I think it was an interesting and in some ways unique opportunity for runners to chat other than in a racing or training setting," said organizer Mike Casper. The next film in the series, on March 19, is Without Limits, which tells the story of American running legend Steve Prefontaine. Appalachian Outdoors is hosting the series at 123 S. Allen St., in State College. Viewers meet at the store at 7:50 p.m. and the film starts at 8 p.m. The Tussey mOUnTaiNBACK 50 and the Nittany Valley Running Club are sponsoring the series, which is scheduled to run through June.

LAST night after her uncontested "victory" in Florida, Hillary Clinton was introduced by... Alcee Hastings, removed from by the Senate in 1998 after impeachment from* in the House, under a heavy cloud of suspicion of bribery when he was a federal judge. (A bit of the colourful background here.) Bill Clinton pardoned Mr Hastings' alleged co-conspirator on his last day in office. Doesn't Ms Clinton have any slightly less dodgy-looking Floridian backers? Or if slightly suspect they must be, ones whose former associates had not been pardoned from federal prison by her husband? *[Correction: Mr Metcalph is correct. Defense, ha! Playoffs reward playmakers
The folks in Warner Robbins need to troop right back to church and take up a collection to build a monument to Marques Ivory right in front of the school. That was a Hall of Fame performance if ever there was one. Still, one hopes the Ware County coaching staff was paying attention. Sunday morning a neighbor of mine who is casual football fan spotted me walking the dog and came flying down the driveway with one question: "Were the Tucker coaches completely brain dead in the second half?" Knowing Ivory's mobility was probably limited, the Tucker defense made no effort to force him to move choosing to sit back in that 3-4. If Ware County can get some pressure on him they have a chance; if they let him stand back there and throw darts they're just as dead as Tucker. I won't spend a lot of time talking about the Wing-T.
WATER POLO
Water polo is now an established sport played throughout the world but it has a long history which began in England. The first documented evidence of the game was when the Bournemouth Premier Rowing Club carried out the "first series" of aquatic handball matches" on 13 July 1876. Various ball games had been played in the water before this time, the most common seems to have been a type of polo in which the swimmer "rode" an inflated skin or barrel, propelling the ball with the hands or a form of paddle and moving about by using the feet. These games were probably more in the way of "comic relief" and the game played on "barrel horses" was still to be seen in the early years of the present century. This is probably where the name "Polo" came from. Evidence suggests that the game was played in the 1870's in Leeds with a rugby ball and in Burton-on-Trent where a goal was scored by grounding the ball on the end of the bath, with the goalkeeper standing on the end and allowed to jump onto any player in possession of the soft india rubber ball.
Purdue irritates best fans
Kelly Rostine and her Paint Crew friends were looking forward to a five-day camping/tailgating experience at Mackey Arena. With Purdue's 24th-ranked men's basketball team set to play tonight at No. 8 Wisconsin -- then hosting 11th-ranked Michigan State on Tuesday -- the student section, named for coach Matt Painter, can't wait. But about 40 Paint Crew members camped Friday afternoon outside Mackey were told by university officials that they may not spend the weekend at the arena. "They are not letting the students support the team," said Rostine, 21, a senior from Carol Stream, Ill. "If they are trying to kick us out for safety reasons, then what is the difference between us sitting (in the cold) for a football game or sitting outside for any other sporting event? "All we want to do is support our team.

BIND 9 DNS Administration Reference Book
This book comes to me in an unusual way. I received an email from the publisher and editor asking if I'd be willing to review BIND 9 DNS Administration Reference Book. Ok, that's not unusual. In fact, it happens to me all the time. What is unusual is that I'd never heard of Reed Media Services before. One reason is that they seem to be a smaller publishing house that was originally started to "print newsletter publishing, online publishing (including related software design), and providing related internet hosting services". The other reason is that they've only produced two books thus far (The OpenBSD PF Packet Filter Book is the other one). read more Ubuntu and KVM Virtualization: Understanding the Long-Term Direction The next major production release of Ubuntu version 8.04 LTS, codenamed Hardy Heron will ship with KVM as its virtualization package.
