| Gender takes center stage in Democratic primaries
I am very upset at the media for blocking out any information on Alan Keyes. If ANYONE represents the Republican platform, conservatism, and values, it's ALAN. That's probably why he's never mentioned…the media represents Democrats, for the most part, and they don't want anyone to know about a highly-principled man who could lead our country back to being what it should be and not toward more and more socialism. But then I've been upset with the media for years, so it's nothing new. ALAN KEYES for PRESIDENT! .

Some new news to share about autism today. At a press conference this morning, a Georgia family will describe how the government has conceded that a vaccine "contributed" to their daughter's autism symptoms. The family will receive compensation from a federal vaccine court. That doesn't mean the federal government agrees that vaccines cause autism (click here for more on autism). Nor does this 9-year-old girl's case mean the 4,900 other families in the vaccine court have won their claim that vaccines resulted in their children's autism. That case continues.Advocates who see a vaccine-autism link point to Hannah Poling's case as a big victory for their cause - evidence of the potentially disastrous side effects of vaccines.Within 48 hours after receiving her vaccinations, Hannah, then 19 months old and by all accounts a normal little girl, developed a high fever, inconsolable crying and some signs of regression, including difficulty walking and speaking.Over the next several months, she had countless visits with doctors finally culminating in the diagnosis of encephalopathy with features of autism spectrum disorder.

Candidates reveal differences at forum
The town candidates were asked to give two-minute response to such questions as: How would you address violence in Taos? How would you make Taos a sustainable community? Did you agree with term limits? How would you improve tourism? How would you increase lodger’s tax revenue? What would you do to stop the bickering on the town council?Incumbent Councilors Erlinda Gonzales and Melitón Struck opposed term limits, but the remaining candidates all suggested councilors be limited to two four-year terms.Candidate Amy Quintana, however, pointed out that a change in state law might be required to allow term limits for councilors.Eugene Sánchez vowed that he would work with legislators to change the law.But the candidates for two open seats in the March 4 election revealed more differences in their direct response to comments from their challengers.Gonzales and Struck expressed their objection to the proposed SmartCode, which would provide a Master Plan to guide the town’s land use regulations.Struck said the proposed SmartCode would not protect the historic district in Taos and Gonzales said she opposed the recommendation in the preliminary plan allowing three-story buildings in the downtown area. The other candidates saw the SmartCode as a way to resolve conflicts in the town’s land use ordinances and Amy Quintana pointed to the failure of the town manager to fill the planning director position for more than a year as an obstruction to the town’s ability to plan for the future, especially in regard to approving the SmartCode.Julia Valerma said the SmartCode encompasses most the Vision 20/20 plan touted by Struck and Gonzales over the SmartCode, but said it would define the current and immediate needs of the community. The Vision 20/20 Plan, which was created by extensive grassroots input in 1999, was never formally adopted by the town council.

Obama sets Casper, Laramie visits
Even if Obama is “transcendent," as his campaign has argued, the historic electoral trends and the current political environment suggest that translating those primary wins into November success will be close to impossible. * In short: Hillary is better positioned to carry the battle ground states that Democrats need to win in November and Obama's victories in deep red states do not . Obama, McCain Win Wisconsin Primaries
Barack Obama racked up another victory Tuesday night, defeating Hillary Clinton by a wide margin in the Wisconsin Democratic primary while also proving he can win big in a primary-style election in a state with a small minority population. Meanwhile, John McCain won both the Wisconsin and Washington Republican presidential primaries, besting longshot rival Mike Huckabee. Democrats were awaiting results in the Hawaii Democratic caucuses. Washington also held a Democratic primary, but it was a beauty contest only, awarding no delegates. Speaking in Texas, where he had already traveled to get a jump on the March 4 race there, Obama briefly mentioned the Wisconsin victory in a 45-minute speech that was raucously received by the estimated 20,000-strong crowd. "We just heard we won tonight in Wisconsin," Obama said to catcalls and applause.
