Ellis CEO sees 'primary care mall' at St. Clare's site
Connolly also sees the possible addition of a woman's health care center on the Ellis campus. That would eventually take the place of Bellevue Woman's Hospital, the Niskayuna hospital Ellis took over in October. He said an aged building behind the main hospital could be demolished to make room for the new facility. Ellis itself has no obstetrics department, so it provides those services only through its Bellevue division. But Connolly said the Bellevue campus "needs work" and St. Clare's maternity department is too small to serve as the future site of woman's health care for the combined institution. It is still very early in the process. Connolly said a steering committee, made up of representatives of both Ellis and St. Clare's, was formed Thursday morning.
