Israel Anglos - Internet Groups Weaving A Community Web
Jerusalem----April 22......An elderly widow, originally from Johannesburg and now living alone in Ra'anana, Israel notices one day that water has begun to pool on her bathroom floor, right behind the lavatory. As concern deepens to panic, she hurries into the hall of her Rehov (street) Ben-Gurion apartment building. Gazing down the corridor at two rows of her neighbors' closed doors, she remembers with irritation that none of them speak English, and her own Hebrew is almost nonexistent. She lurches back into her apartment, boots up her computer and quickly types a letter to her English language e-mail group in Israel, asking for the phone number of an English-speaking plumber. She writes the words "Help! Plumber?" in the subject line of her letter. grabs her mouse and clicks "send." Within 10 minutes, her mailbox fills up with the names and phone numbers of several English speaking plumbers, along with letters from two of the plumbers themselves.

How to Build A Near Fail-Safe Accounting System to Reduce Costs and ...
The Holy Grail of accounting systems is one that "just works," every time and without fail, with great efficiency and small hardware requirements. The system must have significant reliability, and procedures and processes should cross validate on a constant, ongoing basis. This is our quest and can be our accomplishment. Constructing a near fail-safe accounting system is like putting together a jigsaw puzzle; all pieces must be present and carefully placed in order to create the big picture. With accounting systems, one has to take all of the following pieces into consideration: software capabilities, hardware capabilities, training and internal procedures, support and strategic planning; AND these components must all fit and work together to create an efficient, reliable program that will take your firm's productivity to the next level.
Coaches discuss fairness of tournament site
New year, same debate. With the Mountain West Conference Basketball Championships looming, Monday's teleconference involving the league's coaches was dominated by the near-annual debate about the fairness of UNLV hosting the conference tournament. The exact answers varied, but -- especially with five new coaches on the scene -- all pointed towards further discussion in the offseason about finding a better plan."Unfortunately, until things change, the automatic (NCAA Tournament) qualifier is the conference tournament winner," New Mexico coach Steve Alford said. "And that's why I think it's very, very important for our league to really look closely at what we're doing with our league tournament, because having it at a host school, there's not any kind of balance or anything fair to that for the other eight teams in the league."Alford, in his first year at the helm for the Lobos, has been the most vocal about the situation and has made his comments public and very clear from Day One.He coached in the Big Ten at Iowa for the last eight seasons, where the conference tournament alternates between Chicago and Indianapolis, Ind.
