| Wells fires free-kick winner
The game only got the go ahead an hour before kick off as morning rain had made the pitch very heavy but fortunately the wind got up and blew the worst of the showers away and the game went ahead. Cambridge had fought a 2-2 draw at the Beveree earlier in the season but on this occasion never really got to grips with the conditions or the opposition. .
Digg sale to Microsoft or Google imminent: report
The website has been working with investment bank Allen & Co. on a sale for several months, but a deal is now imminent, according to the influential technology blog TechCrunch. Citing an unnamed source close to the deal, TechCrunch said there are four companies looking at Digg's books: two of them are large news and media companies, while Google and Microsoft are the other two. Digg is prepared to accept less than the $300 million US that Allen & Co. was seeking last year, with Google likely to bid up to $225 million, the report said. Microsoft would likely offer less than Google because part of Digg's revenue comes from an advertising deal the site signed with the software company last year. The two companies are expected to engage in a bidding war over the website, which ranks news stories according to how many votes they receive from visitors.
Coming soon: Movies on flash memory cards
Getting permission to build a library of high-quality content has been the bane of several would-be Blockbuster killers. Armstrong wouldn't divulge the name of the studios, but said they were major and well-known. "We will have them (movies) the same day and date as DVD," he said. The pricing will be about the same. Advantages over current models If the company can pull it off--and that remains a big if--PortoMedia potentially can short-circuit some of the problems and shortcomings of the various methods for delivering movies. First up is cost. Delivering movies via hard drives and flash memory eliminates many of the packaging and shipping expenses associated with DVDs. Shelf space at retailers now dedicated to discs is also freed up for other products. In addition, selection is improved.
It's a done deal: Suns get Shaq
The Suns have completed the trade that will bring center Shaquille O'Neal to Phoenix in exchange for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks. I'm well aware that I'm on the line, Kerr told The Associated Press. That's my job. That's why I'm sitting in this seat. I'm comfortable with the decision. I think it gives us a better chance to win, and a better chance to win in the playoffs. The deal has raised questions as to whether the Suns can continue their up-tempo style of play, but Boris Diaw said this afternoon: "I think it will be OK. Usually, when we play fastbreak, it's not five guys down the court. It's always two or three. We're still going to play some fastbreak and now we've got more leverage for the halfcourt. .
Milwaukee vs. Philadelphia
He tied a season high with 22 points and added 13 rebounds while making 10 of his 11 field-goal attempts in the Sixers' 117-83 win over Seattle on Friday night. "It's been a little while since I had fun. It's been a little while since I enjoyed myself," Dalembert said. "I'm just trying to go back to that same way no matter what happens. Winning is our goal, but sometimes you have to try to look for the fun." It might be easier to have fun with the Sixers suddenly thriving. They're hoping to pull within three games of .500 for the first time since they were 14-17 on Dec. 31, and appear optimistic about their chances of advancing to the postseason for the first time since 2005. "I just love the way we're playing," Dalembert said. "We're winning basketball (games) so that's most important." While Dalembert has just come on recently, Philadelphia has gotten significant contributions from a number of players during its hot streak.
A walk down the Yellow Brick Road of Malaysia's Corridor of the future
We are now three days away from the big day for Malaysia's General Election. I've been watching the electronic press and the blogs this last week to see how much of an influence the "E" factor is going to play in this election as far as disseminating of information, spreading gossip, mobilizing people and, of course, campaigning for votes goes. I've also attended a couple of ceramahs just to see how quickly the news/info gets disseminated onto YouTube, and how much of a part YouTube is playing in terms of getting information or messages across. Dear Prime Minister... One big "E" splash that was made during campaigning last week was the launch of the Prime Minister's feedback Web site called warkahuntukpm.com.my, which was launched March 1 with much press and publicity. The concept behind warkahuntukpm.com.my is this: Write to the PM and tell him your issues, and he'll look into the matter.
Is indecency running rampant in our shopping malls?
Imagine that you're out with your teenage children and suddenly see a young woman walking nearby, completely topless except for one strategically-placed hand. Or some guys and girls run by, and one has clearly had his pants and underwear completely off - he's pulling them up, but you can see most of his backside. Or perhaps a half-dozen good-looking women strut by in nothing but underwear and high heels. Many observers would be irritated or shocked; some might even be angry enough at the young woman to report her for indecent exposure. But while these incidents would violate any local statute for indecency or partial public nudity, most of us would probably shrug them off as a momentary or isolated incidents. So why do we shrug it off when retailers take those same images, blow them up larger than life, and put them in hundreds of malls and teenage clothing stores around the country? The pictures currently in the windows of Abercrombie & Fitch and Victoria's Secret contain the exact images described above, and would violate public indecency standards in person.

Indigenous Designs Corp. prides itself as a truly green supplier. Its women's clothing is made from all-natural, sustainable materials, such as organic cotton, silk and alpaca. It adheres to strict fair-trade manufacturing practices overseas, runs its U.S. corporate office on solar power and encourages employees to bike to work. But all that feel-good stuff isn't what the Santa Rosa, Calif., company pushed when it met with executives from the Dillard's Inc. department-store chain at a trade show earlier this year. Instead, the apparel maker talked up fashion, design, and price -- mentioning the organic and fair-trade chit only as an extra bonus. .

But on Wednesday I was at the Ritz Carlton, Battery Park in NYC having cocktails at Rise bar and who walked out on the balcony bar but Steve Schirripa. The name may not ring a bell, but he plays Bobby "Bacala" Baccalieri -- Tony's brother-in-law. I contemplated tackling him when he walked by, so I could rough him up and get some finale secrets, but I thought better of it. He's slightly bigger than me. I guess I can wait two weeks. Thompson bemoans threadbare squad
Devizes Town manager Paul Thompson has bemoaned his threadbare squad ahead of a hectic month which could make or break their season. The Nursteed Road outfit have ten games in the next 30 days and Thompson will be without Steve Campbell, Josh Digby and the suspended Dan Sloan for Saturday's match at Bishop Sutton. They then travel to Calne Town on Tuesday for their rearranged Wiltshire Senior Cup quarter-final tie before hosting the Lilywhites in the Toolstation League Premier Division next Saturday. Games against Welton, Chard, Corsham, Truro, Odd Down, Brislington and Bitton follow but Thompson won't be able to rotate his side. "We are missing key players and we haven't got the strength in depth in our reserves," he said. "We have got some good future youngsters but they are not ready quite yet.
